“WHEN YOU ARE A MUSICIAN AND HAVE A COMMAND OF ITS WRITTEN LANGUAGE, IT’S LIKE HEAVEN IN A CUP. JEFF BERLIN’S BEGINNER GUITAR LINE READING IS A TEAPOT OF KNOWLEDGE.” - STEVE VAI
The one thing that everyone shares in common is that the more we practice academic music, the better we become as players. I wrote Beginner Guitar Line Reading to be based in a classical musical concept, and to be completely sequential; each lesson flowing smoothly into the next. This gives you the best chance to improve your reading and playing in a step-by-step manner just as all classically trained players are taught.
1. Practice slowly! No metronomes are recommended! Tap your foot or count out loud, or internally! Time does not come from a click! It comes from you!
2. Fix your mistakes the moment that they happen! This is the true source of learning to play better!
3. Practice 15 to 30 minutes a day to begin! Take breaks! Practicing is best done without stress! Gently breathe!
